With four dead in ongoing protests against the Muslim Brotherhood government in Egypt,
Ariel Ben Solomon of the Jerusalem Post writes
that Westerners shouldn’t get too excited or upset just yet – odds are
strong that Mohammed Morsi and his Islamist fellow travelers aren’t
going anywhere. At least not anytime soon.
But from reports, it seems that the Egyptian president
remains defiant despite the crisis. The Muslim Brotherhood organization
is described by analysts as being “pragmatic,” but the government’s
behavior since coming to power seems to be more like a play for power at
all costs, than any reasonableness.
