Call Director Phil Anderson Of the DoF&W to keep the kill order for wolves.

They've heard you loud and clear! Your calls and emails to save the wolves in the Wedge pack in Washington State have made a difference.

But we can't rest until the kill order for wolves in the Wedge pack is permanently withdrawn.

This past Tuesday, I along with other groups, met with Director Phil Anderson of the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife and officials from the Governor's office. The kill order is now on hold — and state officials have agreed to reassess the situation.

But we can't stop now — this is only a temporary reprieve and the fate of the wolves in the Wedge pack is still uncertain! Call Washington Governor Christine Gregoire and Director of the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Phil Anderson today.

Washington Governor Christine Gregoire: 360-902-4111
Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Director Phil Anderson: 360-902-2200

Tell them: Thank you for reassessing the kill order issued for wolves in the Wedge pack — but we need you to take the next step and permanently call off the kill order. The future of wolves in Washington State may hinge on the precedent you set today.

Killing wolves without clear evidence that they were responsible for livestock attacks violates the state's own wolf management plan — and the Governor's office has received thousands of calls from dedicated supporters like you.

Help keep the pressure on! We're so close to saving wolves in the Wedge pack. Please contact Washington state officials now – even if you already have – and click here to let us know you made the call.

Thank you for helping save wolves in the Wedge pack!

Help Haiti's animals after Isaac; Humane Sociaty

When Tropical Storm Isaac hit this past weekend, it only made life harder in Haiti, for people and animals alike. Our team of veterinarians and emergency responders were on the ground during and immediately after the storm -- visiting affected areas, offering expertise and assisting with hands-on care of companion and working animals in need.
Over the past few days, we've come across hundreds of injured animals -- including many suffering from open wounds. See some of the animals we've helped so far -- then please make a donation to our International Disaster Fund so we can continue to provide this life-saving work.
Humane Society International is one of the only international animal welfare groups that has been on the ground in Haiti since the catastrophic earthquake in 2010 -- when we opened our veterinary clinic just outside of Port au Prince -- so we are able to provide short-term and long-term recovery work. Our team will remain in Haiti for years to come, offering help and services where it's needed most. We will continue to do everything we can to help Haiti's people and animals.
In the days and weeks ahead, the HSI team will focus its attention on helping the animals and their families affected by these disasters through offering care, supplies, food and much-needed veterinary attention. Please, make a donation to our International Disaster Fund today so that we can continue to help those in Haiti and rescue animals from emergencies everywhere.

Caboodle Ranch kitties go to KC Wayside Waifs! Go get one. Cats do not cost as much as dogs.

Dear Animal Lover,
In April, members of the Wayside Waifs Rescue Team flew to Florida to assist the ASPCA in caring for more than 700 cats seized from an animal sanctuary known as Caboodle Ranch. It was the largest rescue mission in history.
The owner of Caboodle Ranch was arrested and charged with animal cruelty. Hundreds of cats were found living in overcrowded and filthy conditions. Many suffered from upper respiratory infections, ringworm and other medical issues.
Four members of Wayside’s Animal Rescue Team nursed these animals back to health in hot, muggy conditions.  You can imagine the profound impact this had on our team caring for so many cats in need.  During this time, they became attached to several of these cats.

The Rescue team deploys to Florida

After six months and several adoption events in Florida, most of the cats found forever homes. But seven of the FIV posititive cats were transported to Wayside Waifs because of our strong national reputation.  Even the ASPCA knew the best chance at finding a forever family was at Wayside Waifs.

The cats arrive at Wayside Waifs.
Wayside Waifs welcomed the cats last Friday, August 24th. As soon as their medical and behavior evaluations are complete, they will be ready to find their forever family.
The team unloads the kitties so they can begin their evaluation.
These national calls for help are becoming more frequent. Right now, Wayside’s FEMA certified Animal Rescue and Response Team is on standby, closely monitoring Hurricane Isaac's impact on the Gulf Coast
.  Just as we responded in Joplin, Wayside will be there to help our furry friends if they’re caught in the wake of a natural disaster.

Ready to find a forever home!

But we can’t do it alone. Wayside Waifs receives no government funding. Only with your support can we answer the animals' cries for help.  Won't you give a helping hand to ensure no animal is left behind?

Donate now to save lives.
